Poker is a card game where each player bets according to the rank they believe their hand is worth as compared to the other players. The main objective of poker is to create the best combination of 5 cards to win the pot amount, which contains all the bets made by various players during the hand. There are 13 ranks (high to low – Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2) in 4 suits (Clubs ♣, Diamonds , Spades ♠, Hearts ) in a standard deck of 52 cards. 1. What is Texas Holdem’s Poker?

Texas Hold ’em is one of the most popular variants of the poker card game. Two cards, known as hole cards, are dealt face down to each player, and then five community cards are dealt face up in three stages. The stages consist of a series of three cards known as the flop, later an additional single card, aka the turn, and a final card known as the river.

2. What are the various steps of playing Poker?

The various steps for playing an ordinary game of poker are as follows:

  • Blinds:

A small blind & a big blind are fixed amounts for a Poker table which are posted by the two players to the left of the Dealer (D), respectively, before any card is dealt on the table. Two cards are then dealt to each player at the table, face-down.

  • Pre-Flop:

A round of betting then takes place based on the assumption that each player has the best possible hand or not. Bets can be called or raised, or the players can drop out if they feel they have a bad hand.

  • Fold:

In this stage, the player discards his initial 2 hole cards. The user or player will no longer be part of this round or hand of play & loses all rights to the accumulated pot.

  • Call:

The player contributes an amount equal to that of the big blind in the pot.

  • Raise:

The player contributes an amount greater than that of the big blind to the pot. Restrictions apply to the minimum extra amount that the user has to put in order to raise the pot. When one player chooses to raise, all the remaining players are required to match at least the raise amount to continue playing in the round or hand.

  • Flop:

After completion of the first round of betting, three community cards common to all players at the table are placed face-up on the table. The three cards are collectively called the Flop. Another round of betting happens & the player who had posted the small blind plays first.

  • Turn:

After the completion of the second round, another community card is dealt on the table face-up, and this card is called the Turn. A new round of betting happens again with the same rules as above.

  • River:

After the completion of the third round, another community card is dealt face-up. This card is called the River. The final round of betting begins once this card is dealt with the same rules as above.

  • Showdown:

All Poker online players still left in the round or hand must make the best combination possible of 5 cards using their 2-hole cards & the 5 community cards on the table. The player with the strongest combination or Hand Strength wins & receives the pot amount.
